Does This Free Traffic Work?

Today’s question . . .

“I come from the beautiful small country of Singapore, I am
a loyal subscriber of your excellent newsletter.

I notice that there is a very reliable free source of
traffic that net marketers continue to ignore - traffic
exchanges!

There are established exchanges like TrafficSwarm and TS25
that are earning rave reviews.

In your opinion, how do you feel about these traffic
exchanges? Do you think they can really generate quality
traffic?”

I wonder about your question a little. You say these free
sources are reliable and I wonder why?

I will give you this. Yes there is traffic to be had in
traffic exchanges, but on a list of 100 different traffic
strategies to use now this would come close to number 95
with 1 being what you should do right now.

There are better things to spend your time on than clicking
for traffic all day in an environment where others are doing
the same. If you can do it without effort or time spent by
all means have at it, but to spend a good portion of time on
traffic exchanges is going to leave you frustrated.

I say this for two reasons:

First, I spent a good deal of time in traffic exchanges when
I first started marketing. I figured what could be better
than free right?

I did get a few leads clicking my time away, but not enough
to warrant the effort.

Second, I’ve tracked traffic exchanges for effectiveness and
seen the results.

Compared to PPC traffic traffic exchange traffic is about 1
12th as effective.

Not what I would call strong numbers.

Traffic exchange traffic is not ignored. It’s just put in
its proper place of discussion based on results.

    Deagan makes valid points. Traffic Exchanges can help you get traffic. It should not be your major source of generating traffic. There are other methods that yield better results.

    I used to use traffic exchanges really heavy when I first got started. After tracking the results though I came to find that the time I was putting in compared to the results wasn’t worth the amount of effort.
